What is WSRUA?

Our mission is to get the best rail service for West Sussex rail users. We have around 200 members and each station along our lines has a representative who is a member of the WSRUA Committee. See the contacts page for the full is the rail users' association for passengers of services currently operated by Southern Railway on the Arun Valley line between Three Bridges, Horsham to Bognor Regis and Chichester, as well as the West Coastway line between Worthing and Emsworth.

We hold regular meetings with Southern, Network Rail and local authorities to discuss rail passenger issues and the need for improvements in rail services.

The Association has been in existence for over 30 years and until April 2008 was called the Arun Valley Rail Users Association. We changed our name to WSRUA when we took on the West Coastway line which had been without user representation for 20 years and whose services are now closely linked to those on the Arun Valley.

It only costs £2 to join WSRUA for the year, which includes our regular newsletters and our annual general meeting in Horsham. The AGM gives our members the chance to question Southern's senior managers directly

What do we do?

Our newsletters and press releases are on the news page. We comment on rail issues in the local press and submit responses to rail consultation papers that may affect your services.

Answers to frequently asked questions about Southern's services can be found in our FAQ section.

We also run campaigns on various issues that we consider will make a big improvement to your rail services. Now that GoVia has secured the South Central franchise for a further five years, our main campaigns will be ensuring that our members' views are heard on Network Rail’s Sussex Route Utilisation Strategy, better punctuality, improved compensation for delays and more parking spaces at stations.

If you want to see improvements in your rail services then please support our campaigns by writing to us and the industry organisations listed on the campaigns page. The more people who take part, the greater influence we will have over our rail services and the better chance we have of getting things done.
